AL Zebra ZPL Label Manager

by AppLibra

Print native ZPL labels on Zebra printers from Business Central, driverless.

Live on AppSource

AL Zebra ZPL Label Manager prints Zebra labels in native ZPL directly from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - no Windows driver and no external software. Dynamic ZPL templates are filled with BC data and printed driverless (cloud or on-premise) through AL Bridge. It is a module of the AL Bridge connector family.

Key capabilities

  • Native ZPL printing, driverless - the generated ZPL is queued in the AL Bridge job queue (with the printer IP/port) and sent to the Zebra printer by the local Bridge service.
  • Dynamic ZPL templates - upload .zpl files with tag placeholders, each mapped to a label field populated from the print source.
  • Advanced preparation - label records generated from the source and label type, with field values reviewable before printing.
  • Online label preview - render a label line or a raw template as a PNG before printing, so you check the layout without a printer. Opt-in, and it can point to a self-hosted service to keep label data inside your network.
  • Multi-up and images - multi-column printing with offsets, and dynamic images converted from PNG to GRF via AL Bridge.
  • EAN-128 with AL GS1 - GS1 tags injected over AL Message Passing for compliant multi-line GS1-128 barcodes.
  • Template and printer selection - automatic or manual, by label type/user, with multiple Zebra printers.

Why it matters

  • Cloud printing without local drivers - industrial labels from BC SaaS, no driver installs.
  • Repeatable templates - ZPL templates with mapped tags, edited centrally.
  • GS1-128 labels - compliant EAN-128 with AL GS1.
  • Throughput - multi-up printing and multiple printers.

Built for

Warehouse, production, logistics and shipping teams that need to print Zebra labels from Business Central cloud without local drivers.

What makes AL Zebra ZPL Label Manager different

  • Driverless ZPL via AL Bridge - queue and print through the Bridge local service, by printer IP, with no Windows driver.
  • Dynamic templates with tags - ZPL filled from the document, with review before print.
  • Multi-up and images - multi-column printing and PNG-to-GRF images out of the box.
  • GS1-128 over the bus - EAN-128 tags injected by AL GS1 through AL Message Passing.

How it works

Upload the ZPL templates with their tags, map each tag to a label field, and define the Zebra printers (IP/port, columns) and the selection rules. From a document, the Zebra Labels action generates the label records from the source data; optionally you review the values, then print: the app builds the tag dictionary (fields, GS1 tags via Message Passing, GRF images), substitutes the tags in the ZPL, applies multi-up and queues the job in AL Bridge for the local service to print.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central online (SaaS) or on-premise, version 28.0 or higher.
  • Languages - English (en-US) and Italian (it-IT).
  • Dependencies (installed automatically) - AL Bridge, AL Message Passing, AL Role Center and AL License and Trial Management; AL GS1 optional for EAN-128.
  • Printing - a module of AL Bridge; AL Bridge and its local service are required to send labels to the printer.
